DG Wood has crafted an addictive heroine you can’t get enough of. Darkly Stewart lives in the shadows of our fears and haunts our senses.

She’s the most original character in years; an investigator who discovers her own past holds the key to the ultimate mystery.

Darkly shines a light on horror that we’ve never seen. Reader beware, you’ll never think about the woods the same way again.
— Gary Grossman, Bestselling Author of the EXECUTIVE series and OLD EARTH.
As someone who grew up with the classic gothics, I resent the way my beloved horror legends are being reinterpreted to make them romantic for today’s teenage audiences, so I was drawn to D.G. Wood’s new, yet respectful, take on werewolves. He has set up a plot with characters who can populate a series and who have enough of a past to keep the present interesting. This is both a cinematic and literary work, revealing details as they are needed and supplying a mature richness of character. It’s also creepy as hell.
— Nat Segaloff, Film Producer & Author of MR. HUSTON/MR. NORTH: LIFE, DEATH, AND MAKING JOHN HUSTON'S LAST FILM.
I just finished THE WOMAN WHO TASTED DEATH.... What a wild ride!... I think I’m in love with Darkly....
I’m eager to read the next one.... I sure hope they make your TV series.... Really great characters...
— Paul Heller, Film Producer of MY LEFT FOOT and WITHNAIL & I.
I just finished the first Darkly Stewart book and really enjoyed it. I think it would make a very entertaining TV show. It’s just the right level of scary and sexy for me, though I had strange dreams in the morning when I read it before falling asleep.
— Jane Gould, Television Writer
The Darkly Stewart Mysteries are a new take on the world of werewolves - though with a tip of the hat to biblical origins - which plays fast and loose with the tropes of the genre in a decidedly cinematic fashion. Darkly is a fascinating female heroine who takes us on her journey of discovery of who she is and how she fits into the new ‘underworld’ order. I’m really looking forward to reading the entire series.

Wood’s masterful command of the English language transports you into an apparent netherworld among us and hooks in its claws. ‘Darkly Stewart: The Woman Who Tasted Death’ elicited feelings I remember being uncovered upon first reading ‘Interview with the Vampire.’ Anne will surely appreciate this Darkly heroine. The use of the word visceral has never been more appropriate. Vivid descriptions such as “Darkly felt as though she was a bullet shooting through the stranger’s veins, and she could taste his lust in her mouth. The metallic shades of iron gave way to a potent spice that lit her tongue on fire.” Darkly Stewart is a fresh take on the end of civilization as we know it. You’ll never hear a wolf’s howl or be able to go into the woods again without thinking about it. I can hardly wait for ‘Darkly Stewart: Light and Darkly.’

DG Wood has written a really strong, well-rounded FEMALE lead... which is brilliant. The novel took me on a journey I didn’t want to put down. There’s enough intrigue for the well-read, and enough prediction for the DaVinci demon lovers out there. A happy mix to appeal to all.
— Jamie Maclachlan, UK Actor of Film & Television.
A very well written book indeed which I thoroughly enjoyed (even though it’s not my usual genre of choice). D.G Wood has a clever take on the origin of werewolves and clearly has plenty of scope to expand on the theme in subsequent books. It’s a sign of a good book when one is disappointed not to be able to go on to read the next book in the series immediately!

I enjoyed this second installment even more than the first. The author has a knack for capturing suspense, building mystery, and developing characters. Darkly is such an interesting heroine - she makes the story!
— Bekki, USA
A wonderful twist on the werewolf legend. I had never read how werewolves were started so that was a nice tidbit to learn. Its very quick paced and the characters are well written...
— Janis, Canada
Really enjoyed this book! Sexy, fun and moves quickly. A very well written debut by D.G. Wood. Great new take on werewolfism, which in this book is a sexually transmitted disease. After spending time with Darkly you’ll never look at a “Mountie” the same. Look forward to the sequel!
— Jordan Rawlins, Author of MONSTERS OF THE APOCALYPSE
Great twist on the werewolf story. Endearing characters and a story that keeps you wanting to read more (glad it is part of a series!)

As before DG Wood takes you through a tale that makes you jump, wonder and leaves you looking for more. The second book in the series has twists and turns just like the first!

The pace of the story is that of a werewolf running through the woods. That comment, although true, was written with the hopes the writer, dg wood, would see it and find impressive. I love story telling, and I love police work and so I found this story to be perfect. I am grateful that in my almost 20 years in law enforcement as a Philadelphia PD Detective that I have not had any such investigation that Darkly had in this story. I applaud dg wood for somehow making me actually want to become a werewolf. In the world dg wood created Its sexy to be a werewolf. Its exhilarating, there is so much life, so much inner power, and peace. There was much talk about it being a curse to be a werewolf. in the world he created, I found it to be a curse to be human. As a Detective, I wish I had the instincts Darkly had, I wish I could smell death.

As soon as I picked up LIGHT AND DARKLY, the imagery in the story took me right back to Wolf Woods. I love the way your writing is so visual. I don’t read the books as much as I visualize them. Looking forward to the rest!
